WHAT MAKES OUR PROGRAM UNIQUE?

We prepare students for the global economy with classes that use student centered activities, TPR (Total Physical Response), TPRS (Teaching Proficiency through Reading & Storytelling), thematic units and a communicative approach to teaching.

This program integrates storytelling around themes rather than traditional rote vocabulary and memorization to motivate students to speak, and participate in class.  We use play, skits, music, games and activities that reinforce vocabulary from the first day of class. Meaningful cultural activities are integrated into the curriculum at all levels.

NATIVE OR HERITAGE SPEAKER?

Our programs include a two-track program to separate classes for beginners and heritage students who have native knowledge of German.

Track 1  for foreign language learners – follows international standards including the new Common European Framework of References (CEFR) and the US National Standards for Foreign Languages (ACTFL).

Track 2  for children with native German knowledge – follows German school curriculum and the CEFR, and offers easy integration into the German school system for returning students and/or to obtain the German Language Certificate (Deutsches Sprachdiplom), a proof of language proficiency for German, Austrian & Swiss universities.

GLS receives financial support, professional development and teaching materials through the German Federal Republic’s Agency for German Schools Abroad (ZfA). We are an accredited "Pasch-Schule". Pasch Schulen - Partner der Zukunft
